A celebration of the compositional innovations of Jewish-American artists, predominantly focusing on those of the early to mid 20th century, who championed new ideas of post-tonality and minimalism. These are people I admire who I've been studying in school over the past two years. In many cases these are people who had to distance themselves from their Judaism in order to survive in the musical climate of their time period, avoiding overt references to their culture and often even changing their names. I felt that it would be nice to honor some of my musical heroes and inspirations in this context, to celebrate their music as Jewish music, since too many of them were unable to do so during their lifetimes.
